About The Event

Join us for the Product Platform Workshop organizedby INCOSE New England Chapter on June 4th.

Dr. Bruce Cameron,  Partner at Technology Strategy Partners (TSP) and Director of the System Architecture Group at MIT along with Dr. Tim Simpson, Partner (TSP) and Interim Department Head, School of Engineering Design, Technology and Professional Programs at Penn State, will be giving an online workshop on Product Platforms on Friday, June 4 from 8:30 to 4:30 PM.  They will draw on TSP experience building 30 platform organizations from 2011 to 2021.    This workshop introduces participants to the concept of product platforms—the sharing of components, processes, technologies, interfaces and/or infrastructure across a product family.     Companies from Apple to GE use product platform strategies to deliver more variety to their customers and compete more effectively. For example, Black and Decker uses shared motors and batteries across a range of power tools. These firms realize quicker new market entry and reduced costs but, in order to do so, they must orchestrate complex, multi-product development projects.    Past studies at MIT and Penn State suggest only a minority of firms succeed with their platform strategies - the remainder see significant erosion in sharing. The workshop will introduce the key decisions to be undertaken before embarking on a platform strategy, as well as a set of technical and management best practices from past TSP engagements.

Course materials will be provided to paid attendees after the workshop.

The cost for registration is only $50.
